Dear Pak Habib,
Takbir Hari Raya Haji 2014 dimulakan dengan suatu peristiwa istimewa. Mungkin dalam pada segala yang berlaku ada hikmah di sebaliknya. Hari ini, perkara ini terbukti di Janda Baik. Di sini terukir serba sedikit apa yang terlintas dalam fikiran saya sejak menemui Pak Habib;
I believe it is my destiny to meet you. Out of a sudden, I thought of going to Janda Baik and to make Syed Hussein al-Attas garden my first stop. This makes Hari Raja Haji 2014 very special for me. Like any Typical Malaysian Chinese, I would not have taken much consideration into Hari Raya Haji other than it being a mere public holiday. It was a pleasant surprise when I was invited by Pak Habib himself into his house for tea and spent a long time listening to his lecture and having a deep conversation with a complete stranger who is so noble. He can read facial expression too! He talked to me about having the courage to dream and do something about it. I was star-struck when I met the person who built this place. More importantly, that chanced meeting was life-changing. The message was simple, "Live life without regrets. Sometimes God take certain things away from you for a reason. Always dare to get out of the condition you are in." It was with that very words that day that I finally made a decision, making a choice of life, I would say, one I never dared to do for almost 5-6 years. His simple words of encouragement was enough for me to make a choice I have never dared to make, to step on a path I have I always been careful about.
With that, I would like to thank Pak Habib for spending that 2 hours with me, a stranger, and share his fountain of knowledge.
Yours Sincerely,
Catherine See
